As of 19 March 2018, the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, a.k.a. RMIT announced that they would be offering a two-month comprehensive course on blockchains. The university’s Blockchain Innovation Hub will develop the course.
For those who don’t know, blockchain is a new innovative technology used to grow secure, linked, and continuous lists of records using cryptography. Its use is associated with the transaction of cryptocurrencies like bitcoin.
It goes without a doubt that digital currencies are having a huge impact on the market. It is in the best interest of the business leaders and entrepreneurs to understand and adopt this new technology. However, it is not something easy to understand and can be somewhat complicated.
As stated by Jason Potts, director of the Blockchain Innovation Hub:
“It’s one of those things where a whole lot of different technologies have come together to contribute to it working.”
The Blockchain Innovation Hub is currently researching and monitoring the dynamic nature of the new blockchain economy. They have also engaged themselves in understanding how it will affect industries such as banking, trade, logistics, healthcare, and so on.
Through the course, the Blockchain Innovation Hub hopes to “help executives and business leaders to understand not just how this new technology works, and understanding what’s actually behind it, but also how it reflects business models and business strategy.”
At a glance, the course will cover the following topics:
- The concept of blockchain technology
- Blockchain’s impact on the society
- Blockchain use cases in various industries
- Blockchain value propositions
- Strategic frameworks for adopting the technology to your company
- Technical aspects of blockchain
Understanding the current paradigm, it is clear that blockchains and cryptocurrencies are going to play a huge role. If you want to stay up to date and on top of the competitive curve, embracing this new technology will give you the edge you need.
